The DOZE Story

Hi, I’m Jack. I'm the creator of DOZE. Over the past year, I’ve been on a mission to design a sleep mask with one goal: comfort that actually improves your sleep, so you can perform better during the day.

Here’s how it all began.

1. The Sleep Struggle

A few years ago, my wife and I were struggling to sleep. Living in a busy UK city, light and noise kept us restless, and no sleep mask seemed to help.

Some slipped off, others had tight straps that caused headaches, and many used silk that slid around too easily. Others were overly padded or packed with gadgets like Bluetooth speakers, adding bulk instead of comfort, and none of them helped us wake up feeling truly refreshed.

Over time, we noticed our lack of quality sleep was affecting our performance in workouts and exercise routines, leaving us more sluggish and less motivated.

2. The Yoga Leggings Breakthrough

One night, after yet another frustrating attempt at sleeping comfortably, I grabbed one of my wife’s old yoga leggings and draped it over my eyes. To my surprise, I had one of the best night’s sleep I’d had in a long time.

The next morning, I cut it up to make a proper makeshift mask. It wasn’t exactly stylish, but the fabric was soft, light, and secure, with no straps or pressure points. I stuck with that setup for months, and my sleep dramatically improved.

My wife had also tried countless masks over the years, but none worked for her either. With plenty of convincing, she finally agreed to try my makeshift mask, just once. After the first night of trying it she was hooked, and six months later, she couldn’t sleep without it. During this phase, both of us noticed we were working better, thinking faster, and enjoying our days more.

3. Turning an Idea into Something Real

That simple cut-up pair of leggings made me realise masks didn’t need straps, padding, or silk, just the right fabric and fit. If something so basic could transform my sleep, I wondered what would happen if I designed a mask properly from the ground up.

I began experimenting at home, visiting fabric stores, learning basic sewing, and testing all kinds of materials. After plenty of trial and error, I found a soft, breathable blend that blocked light and stayed in place all night.

To avoid uncomfortable straps, I created masks in different sizes. I then searched for a tailor with the same obsession for quality, and after many tries, I found the right one. Together we refined every detail, from minimising seams to printing the label directly onto the fabric so nothing could be felt while wearing it.

4. From Home Project to Product

Once I had a final version I was happy with, I began searching for a manufacturer who could match the same level of quality as the local tailor.

It took a lot of conversations, sample testing, and dead ends before I found one who truly understood what I was trying to create. When their samples arrived, I knew straight away they had captured it, and that the mask was finally ready to share.

5. Our Vision

We started this because we were tired of masks that didn’t work. We wanted something that would actually help you sleep better, so you can wake up with more energy, better focus, and a clearer mind.

If you’ve been frustrated by the usual options, we hope this mask offers you a simpler, more effective solution, one that helps you perform at your best every day, without the gimmicks.
